Here's a one of my prospecting tips: Pay it forward!
Have you ever heard the term paying it forward? Yesterday we sent out an email about this but I thought I'd dive a little deeper on this and how it ties to your home business.
We know we mainly hear it during the holiday when folks pay for the meal or Starbucks drinks of the customers who show up behind them and the sharing is meant to continue all day. Well today I decided in paying it forward with a story for you!
I remember a time when we were not in a great place financially and we decided we were going to take the kids out to dinner. It is not like we couldn't afford dinner but believe us when we say it was a privilege that night to put money to the side to take the kids out to dinner.
What was not expected was when we asked the waiter for our check he turned red (don't think he's ever experienced this either) and says “Ummm ok but your dinner is already paid for”
We all looked at each other and said “Wait, no what?” It's not like we couldn't afford it because we did have the money to the side for it BUT could not believe someone actually decided to choose to pay for OUR dinner it literally had us in tears. It wasn't like we were struggling but going out to dinner was extra and the thought of it all was so heartfelt.
Think we stayed in shock for about 10-15 minutes looking around the restaurant to see who paid for our dinner so that we can thank them but honestly we couldn't tell who did. So what did we do, we paid it forward we paid for another random family in the restaurant.
Now why did we share ALL of that story with you and what the heck does have to do with prospecting?
Think about it when you share with others about your business you're paying it forward. You honestly never know what's going on in someone's household and you could be the answer to help them with a breakthrough with your opportunity.
You're actually doing a disservice if you haven't been sharing your business with friends, family and other people you come across. Make sure you're paying it forward each and every single day because you never know who NEEDS what you have!
Don't know what to say to folks then LEARN!!! Honestly with so many resources out there, within this blog, weekly live webinars or even this prospecting playbook you have the resources but ask yourself – are you using them?
In my case, when I was introduced into the network marketing industry, I was a single mother working a full-time job and attending college full time talk about someone who NEEDED something my picture was in the dictionary under NEED, lol. On the outside it really looked like I had everything together but I had some money saved up but no days off and no time for my son so let's just say what I was doing was not working that great for me.
My homework assignment for you is whether online or offline, share your business with 5 new people each day and don't tell me you don't come across that many people a day – then use social media and friend 5 new people a day, engage with them online and see if they're the type of person you'd like to be in business with.
